d line revitalises its classic VL Collection

by d line

The Vilhelm Lauritzen Collection was originally launched in 2006 by the studio of renowned modernist and architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, as a small, functional line of products that share a clean, Nordic expression.

Now, d line has revitalised the collection’s materiality and durability by dialling up its timelessness and endurance, while leaving its original aesthetic untouched. The new range of colours and finishes meet the current needs of high-end architecture projects, with a feeling of amplified quality. Just as the original collection did, the updated line also consists of a lever handle, thumb turn and toilet indicator.

Design that stands the test of time
The Vilhelm Lauritzen Collection for d line occupies a special cross-sectional aesthetic and functional space between the studio’s contemporary work, the design tradition of its founder, Vilhelm Lauritzen, and d line. The shared ethos of the three forces is a strong focus on form, function and the ability to create design and a material quality that truly stand the test of time.

The collection’s key piece is the lever handle, whose curved shape references a sleek leather strap, and ends with a soft dip for the thumb, making movement easy and smooth. The screws are subtle, yet intentionally visible, offering a practical, honest silhouette.

Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects has curated the collection’s refreshed finishes, including satin stainless steel, polished stainless steel, PVD Charcoal and a calm, stylish and warm edit of RAL Nordic tones, including White, Black and three greys.

Guaranteeing form and function for 20 years
The reimagining of this key d line collection is an upgrade in materiality, evolving from plastic and steel to the brand’s renowned and highly resistant AISI 316 stainless steel.

As a result, the Vilhelm Lauritzen Collection can now be recommended for large commercial or public spaces and carries a 20-year guarantee. Being EN1906 class 4-certified, its extreme durability makes it suitable for high-traffic situations, where both its functionality and timeless design are best expressed.

As with all d line products, the collection is sustainably produced in the brand’s own factory in Europe, where everything is machine crafted by hand, and formed of 50-to-70 percent recycled steel.

The relaunch marks an exciting moment for d line which, always striving to honour its rich Danish design heritage, has committed to innovating and upgrading an already-excellent collection.
