d line’s journey to impact transparency
As a design brand built on timelessness, quality, and care, d line has long understood that longevity is our most powerful contribution to a more responsible future. In 2025, we took a significant step forward in aligning this belief with data, by publishing our first ESG report for the fiscal year of 2024, following EU’s VSME standard. This report isn’t a badge of sustainability. It’s a framework for transparency. A starting point, not a finish line.
We know that 37% of global CO₂ emissions come from the building and construction industry, the same industry we serve. We also know that 62.7% of the emissions from our own products stem from the raw material we use, and that 90% of global biodiversity loss is linked to mining and processing natural resources, the same resources we source. These numbers are not abstract. They’re a call to act with greater responsibility, and humility.
Our material of choice, AISI 316 stainless steel, is one of the most durable and recyclable resources available. But we also recognise its production is energy-intensive and reliant on finite raw materials. In 2024, our complete operations emitted 64.85 tonnes of CO₂, consumed 202.19 MWh of electricity and 137.98 MWh of gas, and processed over 65 tonnes of stainless steel - 62% of which came from recycled sources.
Our commitment to circularity is our response. Through services like Re-handle, we aim to extend product life to over 100 years, ensuring hardware isn’t replaced, but restored. Prevention of waste, rather than compensation for it, is our focus.
But while we’re proud of the principles that guide us, we’re equally aware of what we don’t yet know.
We’re still learning - collecting better data and gradually increasing the number of products with full environmental declarations, including new EPDs for our dispensers and bathroom accessories. We also aim to better map our supply chain, create a stronger sustainability-focused supplier code of conduct, and include even greater transparency in our reporting. These aren’t just compliance tasks. They’re part of a larger ambition: to ensure that every decision, material, and action we take reflects the care and responsibility we owe to the people and planet we serve.
ESG reporting doesn’t mean we are sustainable, yet. It means we are actively seeking clarity in a complex landscape. And from that clarity, we can take real, grounded action.
At d line, we exist to lead our industry by producing responsibly. This report is one way of showing how we intend to do just that - with honesty, openness, and an ongoing commitment to learning.
