Iconic. Timeless.
Classically elegant.
For more than half of the 20th century, architect and designer Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971), shaped Danish design and architecture. Decades after his passing, his work remains the very definition of Danish modernism, which is celebrated for its clarity, proportion and relevance.
Although primarily an architect, Jacobsen believed that every element of a building, from its structure to its smallest detail, should form a coherent whole. This philosophy led him to design furniture, lighting, textiles and hardware, creating complete environments that remain design icons today.
One of his most visionary projects, the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (now the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel), opened in 1960. Here, Jacobsen designed everything, from the Egg and Swan chairs to his distinctive stainless steel cutlery and the d line Arne Jacobsen lever handle. The lever handle reflects Jacobsen’s intuitive understanding of form and material. Designed around the natural shape of the palm, it is fluid, functional and beautifully balanced both at home in a private residence, hotel or corporate space.
